MAY 6-PALO ALTO MAY 8-BERKELEY

The Bay Area will have a unique opportunity to purchase

tasting of SANTOMAS, a fine Slovenian Wine.

The Lavanda Restaurant and Wine Bar in Palo Alto will

offer tasting and food from their menu.

The Caffe Venezia in Berkeley will offer tasting and a

Slovenian four course dinner or food from their regular menu.

Advance reservations are a must for the Slovenian

menu at Venezia.

Tamara Glavina, winemaker of Santomas Winery will

be present at both locations to meet guests and to discuss

her fine wines. Also participating will be Emil Gaspari,

New York importer of fine Slovenian wines and other

products from Slovenia (including salt, oils, chocolate),

and Frank Dietrich, owner of Blue Danube Wine

Company, California distributor of Slovenian and other

Central/Eastern European country wines.

Ms. Glavina was born and raised in Ljubljana and is a

graduate of the University of Ljubljana (Molecular

Biology). She is the daughter of the owner of the family

run Santomas winery in Slovenia. The winery main focus

is producing top quality wines from autochlhonous grape

varieties (refosco) which are internationally recognized.

After graduation from the University, she began her

career in the oenological lab at the Agrichemical Institute

in Ljubljana and learned all the basic analyses in

winemaking. Wine making in the family wine cellar

followed. She established a laboratory for basic wine

analyses at Santomas and continued learning from their

French consulting oenologist, and experience in France –

at the Lab Dejean, and in the vineyard harvest at La Clape.

Santomas produces around 80,000 L of high quality

wine annually, and it is considered to be one of the best

wineries in Slovenia, especially concerning the quality of

red wines.
